What helps to progress in the game?

Two progression axis are available for the player:
-Fighting: FXP aka. Fighting eXperience Points.
-Social: SXP aka Social eXperience Points.

What is the ultimate player goal?
Each player will set its proper goal according to its sensitivity. He’ll be able to become a powerful warrior, a famous tradesman, even though an advised politician... To be increasingly stronger to serve his and its people.

What will players do when they’ll be at the highest level?
There is potentially no highest level, because the player will always miss skills points to be omnipotent either in Social or Fighting axis.

Will the social progression be mandatory?
Play how you like to play. Both axis are independent and all the combinations are possible.

How Player vs. Player works?
Apart from the two Dark and Light Kingdoms which are completely banned areas for the challenger alignment, the ten Kingdoms to conquer are all PvP between Dark and Light alignments. Moreover, a code of honor will limit the inopportune attacks of the strong players on weakest.

How will the player find its way home in this huge world?
A compass and a map helps the players. Moreover, a public transportation system exists between cities. Teleport systems also exist in various ways in the game.

Will the two moons have a functionality?
Yes and even a very important one in the game, because the location of each moon influence the Dark or Light alignment in several fields and in particular the renewal of Mana.

What is SXP?
Social eXperience Points, level points in the social field to make the difference with the ones acquired during combats.

How do I obtain SPXs?
Practice trades and participate to actions launched by groups for your alignment. Eg. Hunt a beast which traumas a low level player village. Killing it will make you obtain SXP (social aspect of the action equals the defense of a group).

Why come back to town?
For the social life in general. Businesses, trades, the repair of armors and weapons... In DnL there is a lot of stuff to make you go back to town.

Which type of quest will we be able to do?
All type of quests, from the simplest to the most complex. Element like lunar conjunction is important for epic quests for instance.

How does the trade works?
In a general way, the simple trading exists between players or on market places in towns, but when you practice a trade, you can live on finished product trading or according to the service offered. A player can set his character in NPC mode in specific areas to continue to trade even off-line.

Will a « Dark » be able to trade with a « Light »?
Yep, it will even be essential in particular cases.

How does resources management works?
Two ways available for resources managements: researchers of seam and owners. It is necessary to acquire tools for extraction in order to exploit basic resources as wood, metals and stones.

In Player Killer mode, what is this code of honor you refer to?
SXP loss and a bad faction will be allocated to the high level player who will kill - with no reasons - a lower level player. From a threshold of faction its head will be rewarded and will get into the "Wanted" mode.

What are Mana fountains?
They are strategic locations in the game which are necessary to feed to release Dark or Light magic. This magic will radiate around this fountain and the under influence players are favored to more quickly cover their Mana level.

The combat system is classical in this type of game, it will not be FPS based, but on an original combos system.

What are these fortresses?
The fortresses are kingdoms advanced watchtower points. The fortress is the Kingdom’s territorial basic unit. When 9 fortresses on 13 fortresses of a Barony belong to the same alignment, the Barony changes its alignment.

What’s the method to conquer fortresses?
You "only" have to seize them... It will not be so easy sometimes.

What’s the advantage for the player to conquer a fortress?
Conquer a fortress brings to the player:
-an access to a management level, because the player will be in charge of the fortress.
-fortify the fortress according to its financial power.
-The ability to develop an entire village bringing NPC craftsmen in the fortress.
-A good training method to be able to manage Baronies, Counties, Duchy and, why not, an entire Kingdom! -To reinforce its alignment territory influence with one more unit!

Do I have to be a high level player to possess a fortress?
Nope, it’s open to every player.
-You are a warrior: carry out a troop and take the fortress.
-You are a rich trader: buy players on non players mercenaries services.

Why several thousands of fortress in DnL?
Because all the players are in the same world, it’s our will to give access to the political game management side to the greatest number of players. Each player will have its role to play, either by a good territory management or by warlike acts.

How can you have so much fortresses?
The will of the Game Designers convinced us to create an engine which can accept as many fortresses. In fact, the challenge is double. Both technical and Gameplay oriented. This is the reason why we use very few existing technologies of the market and we designed an engine and original tools to match and serve the game. Briefly, we built a technology around the game instead of use technology to create the game.

How does Baronies, Counties, Duchies and Kingdoms management works?
You’ll be obliged to get to a minimum rank to manage these territories. They can either be taken during a fight or during an regular election to get it work. Due to the relatively limited number of territories, there will be a lot of Barons, Counts, Dukes and Princes without Kingdom... They’ll always be able to create a village around their fortress... Competition will be tough...

Does the concept of spying exist between Dark and Light?
Espionage remains deliberately restricted due to the very limited means of communication available between Dark and Light; spying skills do however exist for certain classes.

How do you go about managing multiple characters on the same player account and passing objects from one character to another?
We consider all characters on a single player account who are of the same alignment to be members of the same family. They therefore pool the management of their possessions when in the same dwelling.
By contrast, for players who have both Dark and Light characters on the same player account, a timelock operates. A player cannot play a Light character straight after a Dark one and vice versa: a variable time elapses before the player can play the oppositely aligned character.

If players aren’t too interested in combats or management, can they spend their time exploring your huge world. Have you provided for this style of play?
Indeed we have. Explorer players are rewarded by being assigned quests that are directly linked to exploration and discovery of hidden treasures. Stringing these "discovery" quests together gives players an easier way to explore increasingly dangerous regions.

What are mana fountains?
Strategic location points in the game that need to be fed in order to liberate Dark or Light magic. This magic shines out around this fountain and any players under its influence have the advantage of recovering mana levels more quickly.

How do resources work?
There are two types of resource.
In neutral public mines or workings, Dark and Light can meet provided they are not carrying weapons (beware of the guards!). Once the desired resource has been extracted, the player then has two options: sell the raw material there and then, or hire a wagon to supply a village or feed a mana fountain (earning more money and SXP, since prices vary from region to region depending on current rates). The wagon automatically follows a route that the player defines in advance. There is one drawback to this option in that the wagon may be attacked and pillaged by the opposite faction on the way.
The other type of resource is unworked seams, which give a better output but have limited quantities available. These workings are discovered by the players who come across them. Players can either work the seam themselves or sell it to someone else.

Does teleportation exist and if so how does it work?
Ganareth has a widespread network of main roads. Our mana fountains are primarily located at crossroads on these tracks. The fountains are useful for a number of main reasons:
- They influence Dark or Light magic, depending on the fuel used (the same fountain can switch from one alignment to another, though this means a hiatus of several hours in some cases).
- When a character dies, the body is returned to a fountain with same alignment as the dead character.
- The fountain acts as a teleportation point for all classes
Let me develop this last feature by taking a male Dark character as an example. He can "jump" from one Dark fountain straight to another Dark fountain provided the path between the two consists only of crossroads with Dark fountains. The number of jumps the character can make depends on his teleportation skills. He can only teleport to places he has already visited. Every class possesses a "gate" to their birthplace. Other types of teleportation are available, but each is limited to a certain class.
The same principle is used for moving resource wagons about; for NPCs or players in automatic mode, a practical interface window ("hud") on the map enables this movement.
Conquering land is therefore not linked solely to taking fortresses. The lord of a castle would be well advised to keep watching and feeding the closest mana fountain. You can no doubt envisage a whole range of strategies that might arise from this.
