What sort of weapons do you have?
We have ones you are familiar with such as swords and bows and maces and many you will find new. Everything from claws to bows made of bone to magic glowing books used to cast magic. We feel the variety and colorfulness of our weapons really add to the game.

Up

How will grouping work?
As in other games a group leader will invite players in to a group to team up and slay monsters. Experience and loot will be fairly shared out.
Up

Will there be siege weapons?
As our combat tends to be more fluid (either in an arena or in the streets of a city) there's little room for siege weapons in Dragon Empires, so no.
Up

Does being up hill help if you're an archer?
Yes, having a height advantage will give you a little extra range and running up hill is a little slower than running on the flat. We will be balancing this part of the game carefully during beta.
Up

How can I get to my house if there's a war in my home city?
You will be able to access your house regardless of city status (e.g. under siege, changing hands etc.).
Up

What is the 'Blood Circus'?
If you, your friends or your clan-mates feel like a good fight then you are able to sign up for the Blood Circus. It's a quick PvP arena where you go in and fight for honour, prestige and the dragon's amusement.
Up

Will there be epic battles between players?
Yes, from the ground up the game has been designed to support large battles between clans without massive slowdown. The engine happily scales the level of detail you can see to make sure that you arenīt the victim of frame rate drops as more and more people appear on screen.
Up

Is the game focused on combat?
Yes, but not exclusively. We have gone out of our way to make sure that players can engage in a lot of combat, especially in groups. Combat is important to the game. We have provided cities and empires to fight for and within, but in truth all the other aspects of roleplay are still there. For example, trade and working as a clan to control your city are also very important.
Up

Will there be Player versus Player?
Yes. The role-playing system is designed from the ground-up to support balanced PvP. Check the PvP section of the FAQ for more information.
Up

Will there be teams? If so can I hurt people on my own team?
The game formally supports clans and clan leaders. Only clans can take over cities. You will not be able to inflict damage on a player in your own clan.
Up

Is there a penalty for dying? What happens when I die?
Not necessarily, but death may result in some slight loss. You will probably be transported back to your hometown depending on where your house is and what cities are under siege.
Up

Will combat be click-and-wait or more interactive?
The combat system is largely stats based, although tactical elements will be included. You will be able to choose different combat techniques based on your skills and abilities and the type of weapon you are using.
Up

Is archery in the game?
Yes, archery and the skills to support archery are in the game.
Up

What is the creature AI like?
Monster AI will be behaviour based, the monsters have set behaviours that change as they react to their environment depending on sensory data they gather. Some monsters will be dumber than others, some monsters will group and work in teams, and others will be solitary. Some will call to their friends to help when out numbered. This has a distinct impact on game play. For players exploring dangerous wilderness, knowing what monsters have good hearing versus which have good eyesight will be very important.
Up

Does monster behaviour change?
Monsters have an aggression rating that goes up and down depending on their situation, i.e. beware hungry monsters, while ones that have had their daily adventurer snack may leave you alone. Aggression will help determine a monster's behaviour, a highly aggressive monster will fight to the death, less aggressive monsters will try to escape a combat that is going badly for them. Furthermore, Some monsters shun contact with adventurers and thus will have to be tracked and hunted; others will actively hunt down adventurers. In addition, monster groups will behave in a natural manner, with migration paths, nocturnal hunting patterns etc, all being implemented in the system.
