How do I make a clan?
All clans are currently formed out of game. However, some fans have created resources to
help you on your path to fame and glory!
By registering you clan at Moonshade
& Talrias.net you will be able to
have your own forum to start planning you clan on as well as having a rank system and
keeping track of members.
If you want to have a clan website with its own forums and database you will need to
organise it yourself. When you have a site, you can send Calistas the link and he will
add it to the Clan links on the home page.
You can also start a forum thread in the clan section of the DE forum; this will get your
clan known to anyone looking for a clan.
I'm in large clan XYZ. How can we get in your beta?
We invite all clans to encourage their members to sign up for the beta test. Our goal is
that everyone will eventually be able to test the game.
When we get to a point were we need to test the guild functions, some time around the new
year, we will be checking active guilds with beta testers to make sure they have enough
people in the game. If they are short and thus unable to properly test guild functions we
may add to their numbers.
We will never invite entire guilds as we feel it is too easy to miss guilds that may
deserve to get in yet fail to get noticed. This can end up quite frustrating.
Can clans take over more than one city?
Yes they can but risk spreading themselves too thinly in the ongoing struggle to impress
the dragons and avoid being bottom of the city-owning heap! However, it is possible and we
expect some of the large clans to try and carve out empires for themselves.
Will there be support for clans?
Yes. Clans are central to the game. Clan leaders will have to develop leadership skills.
Clans will gain access to message boards, their own communication channels and a voting
system.
Can my clan fight other clans?
Clan combat is by consent except in the case of a city siege where the defenders have no
choice and must defend their city or lose it.
Clans fighting by consent battle in the 'Blood Circus', where arena combat takes place
to amuse the dragons.
Will the politics in the game be decided by players or by staff?
The hope is that politics will be left to the players. For example, the leaders of
player-run towns directly impact the regional economy by setting city trade specialisations
and tax rates. Codemasters will, however, intervene to stir things up with new content and
the occasional act of god.
Why should a clan control a town?
Once a clan has control of a town or city they can chose which area of trade the town is
going to specialise in. The ruling clan can then work to exploit trade opportunities to
fill its coffers with gold.
So how does a clan take control of a town?
Only clans can capture and rule cities. To take a city, a clan will need to do the
following:
1) Prove it is worthy to the Dragons who guard the city by competing in a qualification
contest with other clans and defending its empire against outlaws.
2) The city it wishes to take must have proved itself unworthy, not be supported by enough
other cities.
3) The clan can then combat the landed clan for the city through a series of simultaneous
battles over monuments, some around the countryside, some in the city.
The winner of that competition will take the city.
What if I am not in a clan? Can I participate in a city´s success?
Yes. You can, if you chose, establish a workshop to take certain raw materials and turn
them into products. Shrewd players will work out which cities and clans offer the best
environment to get wealthy. Other players can chose to move resources between cities and
profit from the price differences.
Will the game be group orientated? Is there still support for the solo player?
It is possible to play solo however groups are well supported and it is very easy to form
impromptu hunting parties which takes a lot of frustration out of the game.
